First dungeon: how to clear it
The Frozen Ghost Dungeon step by step: storeys, objectives, the Ghost of the Dwarf King and the exit.
Before you go in
The Frozen Ghost Dungeon is the short dungeon: a single untimed phase, four steps of objectives and a boss at the end. Pick it in “New game” → Dungeons, solo or in co-op.
Bring a build you are comfortable with against one big enemy: the Ghost of the Dwarf King hits hard in melee. Without a clock, difficulty rises slowly (+3% per minute), but it rises: its health is fixed when it appears, so reaching the tomb sooner means facing a weaker boss.
Moving between storeys
It is an indoor map with several storeys: an outdoor valley and, inside the mountain, Mines and Tomb, Great Hall, Entrance, Throne and Chambers, and Upper Level. The minimap only shows the storey you are on and switches as you go up or down; on the full map (Tab) you can pick the storey by hand with the mouse or the d-pad, and the door icons mark where you pass from one to another.
Inside, the camera cuts away the walls and ceilings between it and your character, so you always see yourself. If you fall through a gap, the game puts you back on the last safe floor.
The objectives, in order
The HUD's missions window shows the current step. These are the four, with what you should know about each:
- Step 1Find the ScrollFind the remains of 2 goblins (0/2)Find the dead dwarf kingThree finds at once, in any order you like. They are spread across different storeys: plan the route on the Tab map before you run.
- Step 2Find the giant horn and sound itWith the three finds, sound the giant horn on the balcony above the main gate. A notice tells you something has stirred in the depths.
- Step 3Find the dwarf king's tombGo down to the dwarf king's tomb and activate it: it wakes the boss. It is used within 4 m of the sarcophagus.
- Step 4Defeat the Ghost of the Dwarf KingDefeat the Ghost of the Dwarf King.
The Ghost of the Dwarf King
It appears in the tomb when you activate it, with no entrance animation: it attacks right away. It is an axe fighter with four attacks — Axe Blow (fast, no warning), Heavy Cleave (a wide wedge on the ground), Stomp (a circle around it that it prepares after taking 10 direct hits) and Skullbreaker (it crouches, leaps and lands in a marked circle) —, and below half health it enrages. All the details, with numbers, in Ghost of the Dwarf King.
Leaving in time
When the Ghost dies, the portal hidden behind the sarcophagus is revealed —until then it doesn't even appear on the map— and the HUD line changes to “Leave through the portal”. Use it with Interact: that first use finishes the dungeon and saves your time, walk to the portal included.
