Nekhtar
The phase boss of Kharvalen Desert. It appears in the last stretch of the phase — with 2 minutes left in a 10-minute phase, 1:30 in an 8:30 one and 1 in a 6-minute one —, waits asleep next to the portal and wakes up with its entrance as soon as you come close. Killing it pays 25 Mithril and readies the portal for when the phase clock runs out.
It does not use the horde’s generic pattern: its own brain picks every attack from distance and position, with per-attack cooldowns and never the same one twice in a row.
Attacks
| Attack | Warning | Damage | Reach | Cooldown | How to dodge it |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sand Slash | No warning | ×1 · ×1.3 | 7.2 m · ±70° | 3.2 s | Three fast cuts with his khopesh (four while enraged), with no ground warning; each cut turns a little toward you. Back off or circle behind him. |
| Judgment of the Sun | Wedge | ×2.6 | 10.5 m · ±30° | 6 s | An overhead blow with a long wedge in front of him: step out to one side as soon as it is drawn. |
| Sand Whirlwind | Circle | ×1.8 | 7 m | 5 s | He spins with a circle around him; he uses it when you get behind him or several players are close. Get away before it fills. |
| Jackal Charge | Strip | ×2 | 10–22 m | 6.5 s | From afar, he charges in a straight line: a strip marks the path and locks just before he goes. Step sideways. |
| Sand Geysers | Row of circles | ×1.6 | 9–26 m | 7 s | A row of eruptions advances to where you were: get off the line. If you climb a rock, they erupt in a spiral on your own platform. |
| Solar Curse | One circle per player | ×2.2 | 34 m · r 3 m | 11 s | A circle of light under each player (and another next to his target) that fills and bursts: move as soon as it appears. |
Damage of each attack = 15 (its base damage) × the live difficulty × the multiplier in the table, and more while enraged. Reach and cooldown are the boss’s values in the game. Stun and Shock stop it from starting an attack, and Chill stretches its cadence: see Status effects.
Rage
Below 50% health it enrages, once: damage ×1.15, and cadence and cooldowns ×0.8; its wind-ups get shorter (×0.87).
A fourth cut in the Sand Slash, eight eruptions in the geysers and a sand whirl at his feet.
Entrance
He levitates and lands in front of the portal as he wakes up.
Death
He drops to his knees, then falls face-down, and his khopesh lands in the sand. After 2.75 s on the ground he dissolves over 2 s in a veil of golden sand.
Everything it gives arrives at the instant of the killing blow, without waiting for the fall: 25 Mithril, 2 Legendary chests that appear beside the body and the portal marked on the map, which you can use as soon as the phase clock runs out. A single banner announces it when the body hits the ground.
When it dies, its attacks still in the air fizzle out without dealing damage and its warnings on the ground fade. In co-op, every player sees the same fall in the same place.
