Rarities and Luck
What weights each rarity is rolled with and how Luck skews the result, in v0.9.0.
The four rarities
All rollable content comes in four rarities: Common · Uncommon · Rare · Legendary. The rarity color appears only where items are compared — it's information, not decoration.
The weights per category
When a reward surface rolls the rarity of what it gives you, not all categories use the same weights:
| Category | Common | Uncommon | Rare | Legendary |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Runes, passives and weapon upgrades | 60 | 28 | 10 | 2 |
| Artifacts | 50 | 30 | 15 | 5 |
| Infusions | 55 | 30 | 12 | 3 |
The weights are normalized over their total: with 60·28·10·2, a Legendary comes up 2% of the time.
Luck
After rolling the rarity, the game rolls a second time: with probability equal to your Luck, the result goes up exactly one tier. It never goes up two, and a Legendary can no longer go up.
Luck is gained from items like the Lucky Amulet and from the wager chest, which on heads adds +0.6 Luck to its loot.
Where each thing drops
Each reward surface can only give certain categories:
| Surface | Runes | Passive items | Artifacts | Infusions | Weapon upgrades |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Level up | ✓ | — | — | — | ✓ |
| Chests | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ | — |
| Merchant | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ | — |
- Weapon upgrades ONLY drop from leveling up.
- Passive items, artifacts and infusions NEVER drop from leveling up.
- Runes drop from all three surfaces.
